Supported Lodgings Worker Job Advert
Open Homes Nottingham is a charity that adheres to a Christian ethos, providing accommodation for homeless 16-25 year olds in the homes of volunteer host families. We currently run two projects – Nottingham Nightstop, which provides emergency accommodation on a night-by-night basis, and Supported Lodgings, where young people (usually move on from Nightstop to) stay for up to 12 months in the home of a host family, where they receive specific support and mentoring in order to develop their independent living.
Given the growing demand for Supported Lodgings placements, we are now recruiting further Supported Lodgings Workers in order to expand the current scheme. Along with supporting the rest of the team to cover referrals, the successful candidate will recruit and train more Supported Lodgings hosts and also work with the young people on placement and their hosts to support them with all aspects of independent living, ranging from claiming benefits, to cooking, to accessing other support services, to budgeting, to education needs, etc. The Supported Lodgings Worker will also support young people in finding long-term accommodation to move on to.
The post is equivalent to 3 days per week (21 hours per week), although this could be worked over 4 days. The worker would need to have access to their own car and have the flexibility to be able to work occasional evenings to provide support visits & training sessions to hosts.
