Our Volunteer Information Event was held at Cornerstone Church on Tuesday 31st January. We enjoyed a few sweet treats before hearing from the Board’s chair Mike Davies. He spoke about our desire to keep supporting young people, many more of whom came through our doors in 2022.

We heard from two young people, both of whom stayed on Nightstop and then Supported Lodgings. They talked about the experience of suddenly being made homeless and finding themselves in a crisis for which they had no preparation. One young woman explained the value of being able to talk about her situation while staying with hosts, and how it helper her to set boundaries with her Mum, who she has since gone back to live with.

The other young woman, who is still on supported lodgings, talked about her plans for the future to become a midwife, which she wants to pursue now that her accommodation is stable.

Dawn Randall, the Project manager showed us some figures from 2022. We hosted 64 young people for 295 nights, who would otherwise be homeless.

If you would like to support a young person facing homelessness, please contact us. You may be interested in driving, hosting a young person in your home or providing admin support to us to help accommodate young people facing homelessness.
